Our Treatments
At Carmen Care, we use seven different lasers in our practice and tailor their usage on the customized program created for each patient.
In every case, the mechanism of photobiomodulation is the same – the red and near infra-red light is absorbed into the cells and the photons trigger the mitochondria and it’s converted to adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which powers all the functions of the cell.
When a cell is stressed, there is a nitric oxide molecule that binds to the cytochrome complex of the ATP, which causes the cell to perform poorly. Once the laser light hits the cell, the nitric oxide is eradicated and the performance of the cytochrome complex of the ATP improves which also increases the performance of the rest of the cellular components. The reaction also creates mild oxidants (ROS) which help to repair and heal the cell. In addition, the eliminated nitric oxide is passed through the cell’s membrane which dilates the surrounding area and encourages blood flow and increases circulation.

Story behind the laser
Our laser process is called photobiomodulation, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT). In addition to increasing the speed, quality, and tensile strength of tissue repair, photobiomodulation can resolve inflammation and relieve pain.
