Salt Therapy

Salt Therapy (Halotherapy)

Breathe Deep. Detox Naturally.

At Carmen Care, our Salt Therapy room offers a relaxing, restorative experience designed to cleanse your respiratory system, calm inflammation, and support immune health—all while you sit back, breathe, and unwind.

Also known as Halotherapy, this natural treatment mimics the healing microclimate of a salt cave, delivering fine pharmaceutical-grade salt particles into the air for you to inhale.

How It Works

  • Inside our serene salt room, a halogenerator disperses microscopic salt particles into the air. As you breathe them in, these negatively charged salt particles help:

  • Break down mucus and congestion in the lungs and sinuses

  • Kill bacteria and reduce inflammation in the airways

  • Improve skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne

Clear environmental toxins and allergens from the respiratory system

  • Reduce stress and promote relaxation

  • Sessions are peaceful, spa-like, and suitable for both adults and children.

What Salt Therapy Supports

Asthma, allergies, and sinus infections

Chronic bronchitis or COPD

Post-viral recovery and lingering cough

Skin conditions (eczema, acne, rashes)

Immune support during flu season

Salty Session Care Tips for an Enhanced Relaxation Experience

  1. Hydration Preparation: Drink 16-36 oz of water before your session to stay hydrated; water will be provided during your visit.

  2. Mindful Caffeine Consumption: Avoid caffeinated beverages 1-2 hours before the session, as caffeine can be a strong stimulant, and individual reactions may vary.

  3. Comfortable Attire: Dress casually and comfortably; salt poses no harm to clothing, hair, or shoes. Disposable hair nets and booties are available, and you can bring socks for added comfort.

  4. Optimal Skin Exposure: The more skin exposed, the better. Inform us of any specific concerns and note that the antibacterial properties of salt can aid in skin healing.

  5. Jewelry-Free Zone: Remove jewelry before entering the Salt booth for safety.

  6. Disconnect Electronically: Refrain from using electronic devices during the session; focus 100% on yourself for complete relaxation and rejuvenation.

  7. Protect Personal Items: The small salt particles can enter devices and jewelry. Leaving them outside can prevent potential damage due to humidity.

  8. Clean and Sterile Environment: We clean and disinfect the Salt Booth between sessions, with disposable medical tissue paper lining the seat for added

    hygiene.

  9. Antibacterial Sanctuary: The Salt Booth’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties ensure a sterile environment.

  10. Post-Session Hydration: Drink water immediately after the session and twice more within an hour. Continue this hydration routine for the next three days.

  11. Relaxation Techniques: Embrace the soft music backdrop and color light therapy. Breathe deeply through your nose, quiet your mind, and unwind, setting a positive tone for your day.

  12. Post-Session Reflection: Share your feelings after the session and be aware that common after-effects may occur over the next 3-5 days, such as reduced inflammation and toxin purging.

How Salt Therapy Works

Halotherapy, or Dry Salt Therapy, stands as a non-invasive, drug-free, and chemical-free natural solution.

The process involves the utilization of pure pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride (99.999%), which is subjected to heating and grinding/crushing through a specialized device known as a Halogenerator.

This procedure transforms the salt into exceedingly fine micro-particles.

During a typical 10 minutes session, these dry aerosol micro-particles of salt are released into the salt booth.

As individuals relax in this environment, they inhale the micro-particles, and the particles also settle onto the skin. The minute salt particles reach deep into the respiratory system, including the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli, as well as penetrating the deeper layers of the skin.

This unique process is at the core of the therapeutic effects associated with Salt Therapy.

The Benefits of Salt Therapy

Halotherapy treatments offer benefits to individuals of all ages and contribute to overall wellness, respiratory health, and skin well-being. Specifically, Salt Therapy provides advantages for those experiencing the following conditions:

Salt Therapy for Athletes

Salt Therapy has demonstrated positive effects in the realm of sports performance.

Athletes can benefit from the natural, safe, and effective aspects of Salt Therapy, leading to improvements in lung function and normalization of breathing patterns.

The therapy has been shown to enhance breathing efficiency, increasing oxygen intake through nose breathing, and enabling athletes to achieve their maximum potential.

This, in turn, results in stronger performance with reduced breath requirements, better concentration, and a reserve of air for enhanced stamina and endurance.

Notably, athletes exposed to environments with pollutants, such as chlorine compounds in pools, may find Salt Therapy particularly beneficial in addressing Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB).

Why Salt Therapy is Effective

Salt Therapy derives its effectiveness from three key characteristics inherent in dry salt: super absorbency, anti-inflammatory properties, and antibacterial qualities.

As microscopic salt particles penetrate deep into the respiratory system during a session, these characteristics come into play.

Super Absorbent: Dry salt’s remarkable absorbent nature allows it to attract and absorb excess mucus, allergens, and foreign elements within the respiratory system. This process serves to open constricted airways, providing relief.

Anti-Inflammatory: The anti-inflammatory properties of dry salt contribute to reducing inflammation within the respiratory system. This anti-inflammatory effect can alleviate symptoms associated with various respiratory conditions.

Antibacterial: Dry salt’s antibacterial properties play a role in hindering the spread of bacteria and viruses within the respiratory system. By targeting and neutralizing these harmful agents, Salt Therapy supports a healthier respiratory environment.

Additionally, the larger salt particles that land on the skin during a session absorb bacterial and foreign substances, contributing to skin health.

Simultaneously, smaller particles can reach beneath the skin surface, absorbing moisture and promoting skin wellness.

Collectively, these characteristics make Salt Therapy a comprehensive and effective natural approach to respiratory and skin health.

The History of Salt Therapy

Salt therapy, alternatively referred to as Halotherapy and Dry Salt Therapy, originated in the mid-1800s in Poland. Remarkably, salt mine workers in this region rarely suffered from colds, respiratory ailments, or lung diseases.

This observation led health official Felix Bochkovsky to champion the therapeutic benefits of salt, laying the foundation for the development of salt therapy as we know it today. The essence of our existence in the field can be traced back to this historical perspective.

Salt therapy remains a singularly natural alternative, offering a 100% natural means to purify the body of antigens and toxins. Its inherent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and highly absorbent properties contribute to its efficacy. The primary focus of salt therapy revolves around enhancing respiratory system and skin health.

About Salt Therapy

Salt, a fundamental element crucial to life, has historically found application in various therapeutic, healing, and medicinal contexts.

From saline solutions and nebulizers to skin scrubs and salt baths, as well as the use of Nettie pots, salt has been harnessed in what is commonly known as “wet” Salt Therapy.

In our contemporary society, a new dimension of Salt Therapy has emerged, emphasizing the unique ability of salt to absorb moisture.

Referred to as Dry Salt Therapy or Halotherapy, with “Halo” derived from the Greek word for salt, this approach has gained prominence for its potential health benefits.

Modern Halotherapy focuses on harnessing the inherent qualities of salt in a dry form.

Today, Halotherapy has gained global recognition and is practiced in Europe, Australia,

the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and various other regions.

Positioned as a natural and complementary approach, it aims to enhance general wellness, address respiratory issues, alleviate skin conditions, facilitate detoxification, optimize athletic performance, and more.
