Frequently Asked Questions
What is laser therapy?
Laser therapy is an FDA cleared noninvasive modality that accelerates your body’s own natural healing process through photobiomodulation (PBM) which reduces inflammation and ultimately results in pain reduction. Laser therapy is effective in treating various difficult and painful conditions, including chronic pain, acute pain and post-operative pain. In some cases, laser therapy can be used as an alternative to surgery.
How does laser therapy work?
The laser introduces light energy into damaged cells which stimulates their inter-cellular activity. This activity expedites the recovery process for these damaged cells resulting in a significant reduction of pain in the treated area.
How long have lasers been used to treat patients?
There have been over 4,000 clinical studies done on laser therapy since 1967. Many of these studies were scientific studies that were placebo-controlled and double-blinded studies. These studies have demonstrated laser therapy to be a proven method for pain relief.
What type of lasers do you use?
We have seven different types of lasers at Carmen Care. Each patient receives a customized treatment program, and we determine which laser best fits our patients’ symptoms.
- Lite Force 25 watt – class IV laser used for severe musculoskeletal disorders, such as muscle tears, disc degeneration, arthritis
- MR5 – class I laser used for acute injuries and certain neurological disorders
- ComRa Delta – uses
- ICoone
- Theralase
- Solar a Gem
- Red Light Lipomelt
What can I expect during a laser therapy treatment?
Laser therapy is so relaxing that many of our patients fall asleep during treatment! While in a seated or a fully reclined position, the laser technician sweeps the laser over the painful area(s) and uses a variety of laser heads to treat the symptoms appropriately. Sessions last for 25 or 40 minutes, depending on the size of the area.
What can I expect after a laser therapy treatment?
You can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Laser therapy treatments initiate a healing process that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up 24 hours after treatment, and the pain that was treated should subside gradually within a few days. However, in some patients the pain can temporarily increase for 24 to 48 hours, as everyone has an individual healing response.
How long is the laser therapy treatment plan?
With pain due to an acute injury, the patient will typically see results after 3 to 5 treatment sessions. Chronic pain conditions require a custom treatment plan and can include 15-25 sessions for severe syndromes.
What is laser energy detox and how can it help me?
Laser energy detox is a method used to detoxify the body of unwanted toxins, heavy metals, and allergens that are often found in our bodies as we age. This method of detox can be used to help improve our health, prevent illness, reverse disease, and slow down the aging process.
What happens during the laser energy detox session?
We first use a process called muscle testing to determine which toxins may be present in your body. The painless procedure involves the patient holding a sealed vial of toxin while the technician tests their ability to maintain muscle contraction on one arm. This process is repeated for each toxin. If the toxin is present in the body, the patient will feel “weak” and won’t be able to maintain an elevated arm position. The next step is to treat your body with a 10 minute CoMra therapy wellness program, a specialized laser, to assist your body in preparation for the detox process. Next, laser light will be passed through a homeopathic vile containing the targeted toxin and distributed over the body on various acupuncture points from your head to your feet. The sweeping motion will cause a release or resolution of the issue being addressed. The entire session generally takes about 30 minutes, and it is highly effective for promoting profound healing in the body. Sometimes supplements are suggested to help your body eliminate the toxins quicker.
How does it feel after the detox is complete?
Most people only experience very mild symptoms for a short period of time. It is normal to have some detox symptoms, including headache, fatigue, nausea, weakness, or a change in bowel habits. All of these symptoms are temporary, and our results have shown that you will be feeling much better usually within 24 hours after the treatment. The good news is that once your body rids itself of the toxins that have been holding it back from operating efficiently; you will be feeling much stronger than ever before!
In just a few days you will be on your way to better health. Some patients have felt extreme relief after just 2 or 4 LED, and chronic illness do take a little longer.
